Eastern Redbud is not an easy tree to transplant. The best recommendation is to plant while the tree is young and avoid disturbing it. It generally only lives up to 20 years.

Canker can be a significant disease problem. Leaf spots, mildew, and blights may occur. Japanese beetles, tree hoppers, leaf hoppers, caterpillars, borers, and webworms are common pests. Keep the tree healthy with regular watering, fertilization, and pruning out dead branches as needed.
