Grand Erie Master Gardeners is holding our 1st workshop of 2025 at the historical Ruthven site on Sun April 27th. This informative and hands-on Gardening Workshop includes presentations in the morning, a delicious lunch including beverages, a hands- on demonstration planting clay-loving natives in the gardens at Ruthven, a walk through the woods on the Ruthven property, to look at spring ephemerals and discuss more plants that grow well in clay soils and finally a tour of the Ruthven mansion! Spots will fill up quickly so register soon.

Event Highlights:

    • Master Gardener Kevin Kavanagh, will speak on the topic of gardening with native plants in clay soils.
    • Hands on workshop planting native plants
    • A complimentary Lunch will be provided by the Carolinian Café, a local café using Canadian-sourced meat and produce.
    • Guided Walk in the Woods to explore local native plants in their natural Carolinian Forest habitat.
    • Tour of the Historic Mansion on-site. Ruthven Park is a National Historic site.
