Presentation: Mountain Passes: Four Passes in the Andes
Mountain passes provide a unique opportunity to visit alpine areas to botanize. In 2020, Bella and Barbara travelled to Argentina to travel with Marcela Ferreyra into the Andes. Together they drove up and into the eastern Andes in Argentina, then crossed over into Chile to explore the western Andean slopes. This presentation will focus on their experience of four very different mountain passes and what they learned about the flora they found there.
Member’s Showcase
Mid-Summer in the Bruce Peninsula: Erika Schroedersecker will talk about the flora she saw.
Erika is a passionate plants woman. She grew up with keen gardeners as parents, her father building a rock garden, perennials beds, and later on a water garden. Her parents stoked and encouraged her interest in plants & the natural world. As a young teenager, she took over her parents garden, and began buying and importing plants from nurseries in North America. Alpines and bulbs are Erika’s passion with a particular focus on South African bulbs. She enjoy hiking & botanizing in Ontario as well as growing rare, challenging plants, and surrounding herself with beauty.
