Guided by certified sound healers Parya Rostamian and Mike Oliviero, the session blends musical artistry and holistic wisdom to illuminate the bowls’ ancient origins, modern applications, and transformative benefits for well-being and self-care.
Participants will learn to play Tibetan singing bowls with confidence and intention, gaining practical techniques to integrate sound healing into daily life—for meditation, stress relief, and personal transformation.

Instructor Bios
Parya Rostamian
Parya is a versatile classical guitarist, dedicated educator, and certified sound healer. A graduate of the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, she combines musical artistry with pedagogical expertise. Her approach to wellness integrates specialized training in Tibetan singing bowls and sound baths, gained through immersive study in Indonesia. Parya is passionate about guiding individuals through transformative experiences, blending the precision of classical music with the ancient art of sound healing to promote inner harmony and well-being.
Mike Oliviero
Mike is a professional touring drummer, composer, and recording artist with over two decades of experience. Since 2005, he has performed across North America and internationally, collaborating with artists in genres from rock and world music to ambient and experimental.
Beyond his performance career, Mike is a certified sound healer who has led hundreds of private and group sound healing sessions. His unique approach combines musical mastery with intuitive healing, creating immersive soundscapes using gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, frame drums, and other sacred instruments. Known for their emotional resonance, Mike’s sessions guide participants into deep states of rest, clarity, and transformation.
He also holds a diploma in Massage Therapy from the Vancouver School of Healing Arts, with additional training in hot stone therapy, meditation, and music therapy. This holistic background deepens his understanding of the body-mind connection, enriching his sound healing practice. Dedicated to musical excellence and personal transformation, Mike bridges the worlds of performance, composition, and healing arts—offering rhythm, sound, and profound renewal.

Established in 1967 to commemorate Canada’s Centennial, Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden stands as a tribute to the contributions of Japanese Canadians to Lethbridge, Alberta, and as a lasting symbol of international friendship. The name “Nikka Yuko” blends elements of both Japanese and English: Ni (from Nihon, meaning Japan), Ka (from Canada), and Yuko (meaning friendship), representing the deep connection between the two nations.
Opening Day and Hours
Opening day for 2025 is Thursday, May 8th.
The garden is open five (5) days a week:
- Monday: 10-6pm
- Tuesday/Wednesday CLOSED
- Thursday: 10-6 pm
- Fridays: 10-8 pm (Last Entry 7:30 pm)
- Saturdays: 10-8 pm (Last Entry 7:30 pm)
- Sunday: 10-6 pm
Daily Programming
- Daily Garden Tours at 11, 1 & 3 pm
- Thursday: Tea: 2 pm & 4 pm Pavilion/Ceremony (Program)
- Friday: Food Truck Fridays/Sumo/Anime/Wild Nights; Ceremonies 2pm & 4pm
- Saturday: Nodate Tea Service 2 pm & 4 pm (Experience/Program)
- Sunday: Nodate Tea Service 2 pm & 4 pm (Experience/Program)
- Monday: Meiso (Relaxation) Mondays
