Presenter

Liz McLean

Guest Speaker Liz McLean from Butternut Creek Flowers will talk about growing and caring for Dahlias.

Liz has lived in Kingston most of her life and graduated in Biology at Queens. She attributes her interest in Gardening to her Grandparents and her Mom. She had a garden planted before they broke ground on their house. She then wanted to expand and have a cutting garden, which was when she found out she could be a Flower Farmer, and turn this Hobby into a Business. Liz was working full time for the first 5 years and Covid changed all that where she left her job to become a Flower Farmer full time.

Dahlias and Zinnias and slowly Peonies became her main flowers. She loved to make Bouquets with a mix of wild and cultivated elements so her flower menu diversified. She courses and seminars and learned arranging techniques, as well being introduced to more of the Flower business. She was really in love with Dahlias though and they became the mainstay of her business and started to collect them. She loves working with flowers from seed to snip and feels that her health is her only limitation now.
