Event Details
Each summer, the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library hosts a series of native plant exchanges and giveaways at locations across Ottawa. No donation required to get FREE plants!
We ask that donors arrive between 12 pm and 1 pm so that our volunteers have time to evaluate your donations. Donors will be able to pick plants first. Instructions for donating plants are available on our Donate plants page.
Please be sure to bring your water, labels, containers, boxes, or bags to carry your plants.
We will be set up at the Gazebo, just south of the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre.
Organizer
- Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library
The Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library is a grassroots organization that promotes gardening with native plants to provide food and habitat for bees, butterflies, insects, birds and other wildlife.
We are built on three pillars:
Provide free access to seeds
Teach people about gardening responsibly
Ask seed recipients to reciprocate the gift of nature
Just like a regular library, the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library provides free seeds and plants that people can “check out” to grow in their own gardens. Once the plants have flowered and gone to seed, people can “return” some seeds to the library to make them available for other people.
