A River Runs Through It: The Flora of the Ottawa Valley

About This Event

Meet at: Richcraft Hall Auditorium, Carleton University

The Ottawa river has been carving through the sediments of the Champlain Sea for the past 10,000 years. Over that time the river has shaped the sand, silt and clay into a remarkable diversity of natural habitats. Those habitats, in turn, support rich plant communities: Ottawa is home to more than 1600 plant species, perhaps the most of any city in Canada!

Botanist and conservation biologist Dan Brunton will guide us through this landscape, highlighting the botanical treasures of the region, and their connection to the river running through it.
