Native Trees for Small Spaces

Native Trees for Small Spaces

About This Event

Even with limited space, you have many options for choosing small native trees and shrubs in your yard. Learn which species are best for your region, considering important ecological services including nectar, pollen, fruit, seeds, nuts and berries, cover, and bird nesting sites. A guide for sourcing and correctly planting your new trees and shrubs will also be provided.

Presenter

Jeanne McRight founded Mississauga’s award-winning not-for-profit organization Blooming Boulevards in 2019 and is currently busy as its President and Board Chair. In 2015 she initiated an amendment to Mississauga’s Encroachment By-Law, allowing residents to create habitat gardens that support declining insect populations on city boulevards. Her popular webinars on native plant habitat gardening topics reach a world-wide audience. Conservation gardening is Jeanne’s joy and passion, but more than that, she is a deeply committed advocate for environmentally sustainable horticultural practices.
