Kingsbrae Garden

Kingsbrae Garden in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, is its seamless integration of horticulture and contemporary art, creating a dynamic and immersive experience for visitors.

Spanning 27 acres, Kingsbrae Garden boasts over 50,000 perennials arranged in themed areas. Traditional knot and rose gardens, a labyrinth of thyme, and a gravel garden showcasing drought-tolerant plants are just a few of the garden’s highlights. Beyond its botanical diversity, Kingsbrae is renowned for its extensive sculpture collection. Since 2009, the garden has hosted the annual Kingsbrae Garden Canadian Sculpture Competition, resulting in a growing display of over 80 thoughtfully placed sculptures throughout the grounds.

This horticultural masterpiece officially opened its gates in the spring of 1998, at the time featuring an array of over 2,500 species of perennials, as well as a wide variety of trees and shrubs. Today, Kingsbrae Garden is a major tourist attraction, having received numerous awards for its exceptional products and services. In 2017, it was recognized as the top Canadian Garden nationally to visit to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, and it also had the nation’s top marketing campaign. Additionally, Kingsbrae Garden Founder Mrs. Flemer was awarded the prestigious Garden Person of the Year by the Canadian Garden Tourism Awards in March of 2017.

A notable example is “Dyno,” a sculpture crafted from recycled plastic debris by artists Aurora Robson and Marshall Coles during their residency at Kingsbrae. This piece serves as a poignant reminder of environmental issues, harmoniously blending artistic expression with ecological awareness. Complementing the visual arts, Kingsbrae established the Kingsbrae International Residency for the Arts (KIRA) in 2016, providing artists from diverse disciplines with a creative environment to develop and exhibit their work.

Kingsbrae Garden harmoniously blends lush gardens with captivating art installations, creating a unique destination where nature and creativity harmoniously coexist.
