About GardeningCalendar.ca
Less searching.
More growing.
Gardening is rewarding, but finding the right advice, plants, places and events can feel like another job. GardeningCalendar brings the pieces together so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying your garden.
Why we exist
Gardening information is everywhere. Useful answers are harder to find.
For Canadian gardeners, answers are often scattered across event calendars, garden organizations, plant resources, newsletters and websites. Much of the advice online was not written for Canadian seasons or growing conditions.
GardeningCalendar brings those pieces together—and makes them more useful for the place you garden.

Canada is not one gardening zone.
A gardener in Victoria, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Halifax may be doing very different things on the same day.
Gardening advice becomes more valuable as it gets closer to your place, season and conditions. GardeningCalendar uses what it knows about where you grow to help distinguish between what may be useful someday and what matters in your garden now.
- Advice interpreted through your hardiness zone
- Plants matched to light, soil and moisture
- Seasonal context relevant to your region
- Greater confidence before you plant or prune
Connecting the gardening community
Good gardening knowledge grows through connection.
It comes from gardeners, horticultural societies, botanical gardens, researchers, plant organizations, community groups, garden writers and generations of practical experience.
GardeningCalendar gives those worlds a place to meet. You gain easier access to trusted regional experience, new ideas and people who share your interests. Organizations gain a wider audience for their knowledge, events and work.
Our story
Started as a service to gardeners.
GardeningCalendar.ca was created by Jean Carr to promote gardening events, practical knowledge and garden experiences. What began as a service to gardeners has grown through the encouragement of gardeners, horticultural societies, garden clubs, public gardens, contributors, sponsors and community partners.
The purpose remains simple: make gardening opportunities and knowledge easier to find, more useful and more connected.
“GardeningCalendar fills a void.”
Jamie Robertson, Ottawa Horticultural Society
“I love the wealth of information.”
Nicky Trudel
“You’ve built a wonderful resource.”
Rebecca Last, Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton
For garden organizations
Help gardeners discover what you do.
Share your events, introduce people to your garden, celebrate a community project or contribute practical knowledge. Your work becomes easier to find—and the whole gardening community becomes more useful and connected.
From discovery to experience
Find an event. Visit a garden. Notice a plant. Learn how to grow it.
Each connection helps turn information into experience—and experience into confidence in your own garden.
