When selecting plants for patios, it’s essential to choose varieties that can thrive in containers and tolerate the specific conditions of your patio, whether it’s sunny, shady, or exposed to wind. Your favorite herbs, flowering plants such as geraniums and petunias, foliage plants such as hostas, succulents and cacti, climbing plants such as clematis and Bougianvillea, fruits and vegetables, and some ornamental grasses such as lue fescue can all perform well on patios.
