Saving your own vegetable seeds makes your garden more sustainable, self-sufficient and saves you money!

Odette McIntyre from the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton joins the Kanata-March Horticultural Society’s June meeting and will teach us how to save seeds from heirloom varieties that are not available commercially using veggies we harvest.

Learn how to keep seeds from special ornamentals, native plants, medicinal plants or perennials you actually hybridized yourself, and how to connect with your local seed libraries and the vibrant community behind this return to grassroots effort.

This in-person meeting will be held at the Old Town Hall, 821 March Rd (laneway entrance for the Old Town Hall is on Klondike Rd, across from Shopper’s Drug Mart). Non-members are welcome for a visitor’s fee of $5, or become a member and enjoy our full 2024 program for $15.

In existence since 1970, the Kanata-March Horticultural Society aspires to serve the Kanata-area community through horticultural education, local public garden maintenance, and special events.

We hold monthly meetings where guest speakers including local gardening experts share their knowledge. Winter meetings are held via Zoom, March – June and September-December meetings are held in-person at the Old March Town Hall.

We are one of 19 societies within the Ontario Horticultural Association’s District 2, and through this affiliation are grateful to receive an annual grant from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA).
