Film Screening: 1910 – The Uncovering
Join us at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden this September for a special screening of 1910 – The Uncovering, presented in collaboration with the Prince Takamado Japan Centre for Teaching and Research (PTJC) and the Calgary Japanese Community Association (CJCA).
The 27-minute documentary explores the tragic 1910 Rogers Pass avalanche, one of Canada’s deadliest railway disasters, in which 58 railway workers lost their lives, the majority of whom were Japanese.
Following the film screening, guest speaker Mr. Tomoaki Fujimura will present on the history and story behind this significant event.
The screening is being held in recognition of Japanese Heritage Month.
