About This Event

Fallscaping with Ingrid Janssen. There is more to the fall garden than pots of Chrysanthemums and pumpkins. The autumn garden has so much to offer – a rainbow of foliage colours, bountiful berries, beautiful blooms and lots of showy seed heads. Learn what plants and interesting combinations will make your garden a standout from September to November. Plus our silent auction. Everyone welcome.

Presenter – Ingrid Janssen

Ingrid Janssen is a horticulturist, speaker, blogger and master gardener. She has been gardening for most of her life and is a passionate, some would say “crazy gardener”.  How else to describe someone who plants bulbs in January despite 15cm. of snow! She is an inspirational speaker who has appeared on Rogers TV Durham and has spoken at Canada Blooms many times.  She has both ornamental and food production gardens on her country property and has been a dedicated native plant gardener for over 35 years. Ingrid received her Horticulturist Diploma from the University of Guelph. She volunteers on many garden projects in her community the most notable of which is the rejuvenation of the perennial borders at the Parkwood National Historic Site in Oshawa. And more recently, she is the founder and director of Little Forests Durham, a non-profit organization whose goal is to plant 30 mini-forests across Durham Region by 2030.
