Join us for the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Canadensis Botanical Garden Society (CBGS) on Thursday, June 13, 2024. The assembly meeting will be in person at Mādahòkì Farm, 4420 West Hunt Club Road. The evening will mark another step in our progress to build an outstanding botanical garden in the nation’s capital.

The business meeting will be followed by a tour of Mādahòkì Farm, 4420 West Hunt Club Road, a thriving, year-round Indigenous cultural agritourism destination. The 164-acre Mādahòkì Farm on Ottawa’s Greenbelt Parklands offers seasonal experiences and events, and a herd of Ojibwe Spirit Horses.

About Mādahòkì Farm

Home of seasonal Indigenous experiences and events, Indigenous Marketplace, Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival, a growing herd of endangered Ojibwe Spirit Horses and more. After 20 plus years of offering their cultural programming on Victoria Island, Indigenous Experiences were inspired by the Ojibwe spirit horses to find a new location that allowed the organization to offer more land-based cultural and culinary programming. With the mission of sharing the land, stories and food from an Indigenous perspective, the vision of Madahoki Farm became a reality when the NCC approved a 25 year lease on the beautiful 164 acre property in Ottawa’s Greenbelt. With Government of Canada support, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Indigenous Experiences was able to transform this former event space (Lonestar Ranch) into a thriving year round Indigenous cultural agritourism destination in the National Capital Region. The driving force for the development of Mādahòkì Farm is Trina Mather-Simard, CEO of Indigenous Experiences. Trina had a dream that is being turned into reality! We are inspired by the work of Trina and her team. Members of the Canadensis Botanical Garden Society who join us at this year’s AGM can tour Mādahòkì Farm and learn more about its vision and transformation into a thriving, year-round Indigenous cultural agritourism destination… not that dissimilar to our ‘dream to reality’ for Canadensis. Please join us at our ‘in person’ AGM to hear the latest news on our project, a most interesting tour of Mādahòkì Farm, and to enjoy an opportunity to meet the CBGS Board members and discuss the progress of Canadensis.
