W.T. Macoun was appointed Dominion Horticulturalist in 1889. The garden is built on the footprint of his residence with an upper garden and a lower garden with a pond. It was designed by landscape architect Warren Oliver, who joined CEF after it was completed. Many of the perennials and shrubs are those Macoun would have had in his garden.
