Event Details

Did you know our homes in Ottawa are next to a vast community? The kind of community that has four legs or paws or beaks- Ottawa’s urban wildlife animals. With the amount of time we are spending at home, people are discovering nature again, and with this comes a range of wildlife and birds. When we learn to coexist with other species (even those critters we might not always adore) it allows us to connect and enjoy the natural world.

This series examines topics such as Ottawa bird species and how to make our city bird safe, the biodiversity of our wildlife, Ottawa species at risk and how to appreciate the various urban wildlife safely for both humans and animals.

The Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre is the only place in the Ottawa Valley Area dedicated to the care, treatment and rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wild birds.

The program will talk about identifying, appreciating, and respecting our common backyard birds. Fun facts about them, ways we can help them, and how to minimize negative human / bird conflicts.

When we learn to coexist with other species it allows us to connect and enjoy the natural world. There is growing evidence of the benefits nature has to offer people of all ages. It is far reaching, encompassing mind, body and spirit.
