This invasive earthworm poses challenges to our forests and urban communities. It is spreading to Ontario from the north eastern US. It has been reported in Toronto and it is only a matter of time before arriving here in Ottawa. These jumping worms change the soil chemistry, depleting it of nutrients and alter the soil’s capacity to retain water.
